The typical reaction for most of us to our problems is to blame the person or the situation for it. Though it looks like you got into trouble because you had no choice, think again, Did you really have no choice? or you made it choice less?
Let’s take an example. I’ve seen parents saying, they work hard because they want to ensure their kids have a good future and kids shouldn’t suffer like they did. It feels like they have no other choice. But if you look deep enough, they had a choice. They had a choice to not have kids. If they had made that choice they wouldn’t have to work as hard as they are doing now.
There are numerous choices in everything you do. Generally you don’t view most of the choices as choices. Choices like marriage, having kids, getting a car, having a luxurious house etc. Trying to fit into social norms you give up on many choices. So you end up making choices unconsciously.
Next time you feel troubled by a difficult situation, think about this. All situations & problems happen because of your previous choices. The only question is whether those choices were conscious or not. If it was a conscious choice, you will better handle the situation, else you will end up blaming someone or the situation itself.
Remember, you always have a choice. A conscious life means you exercise your choice. It doesn’t matter what you choose, but it makes a world of difference if you make it consciously.
